About the challenge

TigerHacks is a 14-day hackathon organized by Women in Computer Science at DePauw University in collaboration with Tenzer Technology Center. It is an exciting and challenging opportunity for DePauw students to level up their Computer Science, teamwork, and presentation skills. This hackathon is open to all DePauw students and is designed to best support the community of women in CS at DePauw.

Get started

To get started, you/your team must register on Devpost upon filling out the registration form shared during our kick-off session. This step is crucial since all hackathon communication and updates will be sent primarily to your DePauw email. 

Prompt

Social good is about using our skills and resources to change the world positively. Can you leverage technology to tackle a social issue that can make a real difference?

Develop a solution (website, app, etc.) that addresses a social good issue. Focus on any areas that you/your team feel interested in. Be creative and consider how your solution can be implemented and scaled for lasting impact!

Requirements

What to Build

  • Projects must be built within the duration of the hackathon.

  • All project submissions must involve coding

  • All code must be original work 

Projects that fail to meet these requirements will not be evaluated.

What to Submit

  • Project. Share a link to your live project for the judges to do a test run. 

  • Outline. 250-word essay describing your project. It can be under the README file belonging to your GitHub repository, or under a Word/PDF format. The paragraph must highlight your project’s features and demonstrate how to interact with it, and how the impact it will scale to your target community.

  • Code. Provide a URL to your code repository for judging and testing. Give access by making it public or sharing access with acm-w@depauw.edu, OR submit a link to your zipped code/GitHub Repository via our Devpost.

    Proposing a practical solution to the problem specified in the prompt
  • Functionality
    The code being functional/running and compiled properly
  • Usability
    Having a user-friendly and intuitive interface
  • Creativity
    Offering a novel solution to the proposed problem and exhibiting creativity in design and implementation
  • Presentation
    Showing a product demo; convincingly delivering how the hack addresses the problem and fulfills the judging criteria
