Eligibility

  • TigerHacks is open to all students who are currently enrolled at DePauw University, regardless of gender, class year, and major

  • Participants can compete either individually or as teams of up to 3 members. However, male participants cannot outnumber female participants. In other words, teams of two must have at least one woman, and individual submissions are accepted by female-identified/non-binary participants only.

  • Participants are required to attend the Kick-Off Event to officially register for the hackathon.

  • All project submissions must involve coding and original works.

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

General winner:

  • Relevance: Proposing a practical solution to the problem specified in the prompt
  • Functionality: The code being functional/running and compiled properly
  • Usability: Having a user-friendly and intuitive interface
  • Creativity: Offering a novel solution to the proposed problem and exhibiting creativity in design and implementation
  • Presentation: Showing a product demo; convincingly delivering how the hack addresses the problem and fulfills the judging criteria

To be considered for this award category, the participant must partially meet the criteria for the general winner. Then, there will be further evaluation of your project based on the criteria below:

  • Interactivity: The application should be easy to use, navigate, and intuitive for the user to interact with and require minimal learning

  • Visual Design: The design of the application should be visually appealing and aesthetically pleasing while being consistent with the overall theme of the application.

  • Accessibility: The application should be accessible to all users, including those with disabilities, by providing color contrast and readable font sizes.

  • Responsiveness: The application should allow the user to change different screen sizes, devices, and platforms according to users’ references
